The Story of Grandmothers' Empowerment

Based in Neegoni Gi Gay Win Lodge in Northern Ontario, Canada, the Grandmothers' Empowerment Alliance is a powerful coming together of Aboriginal elders wanting to make a difference in the lives of fellow grandmothers. Between 2008 and 2010, the Alliance initiated over 56 retreats of grandmothers focused on reviving collective mechanisms for healing from the collective trauma of colonization. In their session, the Grandmothers will share what their gatherings revealed in terms of the experience, wisdom, vision, and dreams for the future that will serve the creation of new life-enhancing and culture-renewing narratives.

This session will be presented in English.
